Last Post for 2014

Well it's the night before Christmas and all through our house, the presents are wrapped sitting under our tree. All the holiday food is safely tucked in the fridge and checking my list I have one task to do: send my best Christmas wishes and a Happy New Year to you.

Looking ahead to 2015, January 6 is the start of Stampin' Up!'s New Occasions catalogue and Sale-a-Bration. This is an exciting time of year because for every $60 you spend on products from the Occasions or Annual catalogue, you can select one free item from the Sale-a-Bration brochure.

To celebrate, I will be hosting an Open House on Sunday, January 18 from 1:00 - 4:00 pm. Some of the new products will be on display along with some card samples. Earn raffle tickets for the door prize and pick up the catalogue and the Sale-a-Bration brochure.

Cleaning up my Desk

I thought I'd share the last two cards I made. I had to clean up my desk so I wouldn't be tempted to make anything else (Ha!) as I do have other pressing things to attend to. Well, I came across some scraps of DSP from a paper pack and simply could not throw them away so I made a couple of cards. I simply layered a few strips to make a stack of presents, wrapped a bow, and added a label and voila!

I hope all your holiday preparations are coming together. Have a wonderful holiday season. I look forward to speaking or seeing you in the New Year. A new catalogue and Sale-a-Bration brochure will be here so if you want copies, let me know. Until then.

I have the cards designed and ready for you to make for this Sunday's class, get Your Santa On. Starts at 10:00 AM with some warm apple cider to keep you cozy as you stamp.

This stamp set was so fun to work with. I love the greeting 'Get your Santa on!' And the little present and the Santa hat are perfect for adorning the insides of the cards and the envelopes.

Here are the four card designs. You will also be making a card box using the Envelope Punch Board. So, with this boxed set of Christmas cards, you can easily give this as a hostess gift.

The Sale of all Sales

Monday, November 24 through to Tuesday, December 2
Browse through the sale items then make a list using my Customer Wish List. You will then be ready for the sale that starts tomorrow. Have fun!

Tuesday, 18 November 2014

I am working on some cute luminaries for you to make this Thursday evening. All are made for the battery-operated tea lights you can pick up from dollar stores around town. The first photo is a prototype for one style we will make. I've decided to make the base and top from designer series paper instead of plain cardstock.
This second luminary uses the Curvy Keepsake Box Thinlits Die, item #135853 from the Holiday Catalogue. We will stamp on Vellum, a specialty cardstock from Stampin' Up! (item #101856). It provides a frosted window for the tea light to shine through and can be stamped and embossed.

If you'd like to come, the cost is $25.00 and starts at 7:00 pm. Contact me to register or sign-up via my Events page.

Bags and Tags Class for Sunday

Hello everyone,
I hope you had a lovely Thanksgiving. I wanted to show you a little treat box I made for my Thanksgiving table. I put a few little treats inside. I made one per place setting.

I used the Gift Box Punch Board to make the box and decorated it using the Fall Fest stamp set. It was a big hit. The Gift Box Punch Board can be found in the Holiday Catalogue, page 5, item #135863 for $24.95. To see it in action here is a video.

And now for the class. Here are the various items you will be making
You will be making some gift tags including one for a wine gift, decorate the Petite Cafe Bags available through the Holiday Catalogue, page 10, item #135826, 10 for $7.50. You will also learn how easy it is to make a gift bag with handles. Very cute. Here are the pixs and here is where to register.

Gift Packaging Class

Take your gift-giving to a new height by creating your own gift packaging. This class will introduce you to tag and bag making. With a few punches and patterned paper, you will create a some gift tags including a wine bottle tag.

For the bags, you will decorate a food safe coffee-style bag for, you guessed it, some freshly roasted coffee beans or any other type of treat. I will also show you how to make a bag reminiscent of the brown-paper lunch bag and a shopping bag.

Oh and sure, $ store gift bags are great but see how easy it is to create your own and embellish it with a little extra love. Your recipient is sure to take a moment to admire the packaging before plunging inside.

This class is scheduled for Sunday, October 19 from 1:00 to 4:00 pm.
The cost is $25.00. Please register here.

Blendabilities and Ink Pads

Thanks to Diane Dimich (a U.S. demonstrator) for providing this list of ink pads that will also work for stamping your images and then use the Blendabilities to colour.

The recommended ink pad for stamping images that you intend to colour with Blendabilities is the Memento Tuxedo Black ink pad but isn't it nice to know that you can use other ink colours. I haven't tried it yet - but I will be. The main thing to keep in mind is that you must be sure your stamped image has dried before colouring with the Blendabilities.

For those of you unfamiliar with Blendabilities, these are Stampin' Up's line of alcohol markers. They come in sets of three and take your colouring to a whole new level simply because they blend together so nicely. Take a look at them here

Sep 28 Card Class-One Sheet Wonder

If you haven't heard of the one-sheet wonder technique then you are in for a surprise. On September 28 I will host a class in which you will make ten cards featuring your own stamped designer paper. The technique: on one sheet of 8.5 x 11 cardstock, you will use a variety of stamps and ink colours to randomly create a design. This piece of cardstock is actually a template and when you turn it over, you will have guidelines to show you where you need to cut in order to create several pieces for the cards. It's lots of fun and the results are spectacular.

For examples of what this might look like, I invite you to visit my flickr page to view fall and winter cards made with this technique.

This event is now posted.

New Video - a box to store re-inkers

I've now got quite a collection of re-inkers and I'm struggling on how best to store them. I found a box idea on YouTube for storing lipsticks and adapted it to store 10 re-inkers, perfect for one of the colour families. You may find this will also work for Stickles (glitter glue). I have a PDF for you to print if you want as well.

Stampin' Up Weekly Deals

I don't always inform you of the weekly deals but this week there are some great items. If you are into punches, the new Sweetheart punch is listed as well as two great stamp sets. And just in time for Christmas card making or gift packaging, the gold ribbon is discounted.

If you have a Big Shot (the die-cutting, embossing machine) or have it on your Christmas wish list, the Label Card Thinlit Die is discounted by $10. Check this video to see this thinlit in action.

Check out the Weekly Deals here.

You can order online and have your products delivered directly to your home or email me and I will put the order in for you. If I receive multiple orders, everyone saves on shipping.

Coffee Gift Card

I enjoyed making this gift card holder for a coffee gift card. It measures 3 x 4 1/2 inches and I made a matching envelope using the Envelope Punch Board. You can write your personal sentiment on the inside left and place the gift card inside the flap on the right side.

I have written out the instructions here. You can easily make one of your own.

New video released today - how to assemble your clear-mount stamp sets. Take a look here.
If you have any questions, don't hesitate contacting me.

Have a super weekend.

Christmas in July

I cannot have this month pass by without something Christmassy in it so I'm hosting a Stamp-a-Stack class on Sunday, July 27, from 1:00 to 5:00 pm. Check out the details here and be sure to register up to two days in advance.

The designs will incorporate the Christmas stamp sets from last year that I know will be carried over in this year's Holiday catalogue available sometime in August. In the meantime a new stamp set called Christmas Bliss has been released. It's a new photopolymer stamp set (the see-through ones). Photopolymer stamps are fabulous to stamp with because you can see exactly where to position them. I will probably order this for the class so you get to see how they work and then order it for yourself.

If you come wearing red and green, you will get a little gift from me. I hope to see you then.

Great Deals This Week

Oh my gosh, there are three framelit sets on sale this week - the Envelope Liners, the Squares Collection and the Window Frames Collection. Check them out here.

You require a die cutting and embossing machine to use these - a Cuttlebug, Big Kick or Big Shot. If you don't have such a machine, Stampin' Up! does carry the Big Shot, item #113439.

I had contemplated getting the Envelope Liners framelits but thought them too expensive for their sole purpose. Then when the Envelope Punch Board,  item #133774, came out and I discovered you could make envelopes and liners I took the framelits off my wish list. Since then I have discovered other projects you can make with them so now, because they are on sale, I will be ordering them. The other projects are gift card holders, either stand-alone or mounted on or inside a card and stationary folders. Here are a couple of pictures I clipped from YouTube videos (sorry about the quality).
I plan to host a workshop on how to make these fun projects.
