Seashore Stampers Blog Hop-Something to Frame

This month's Blog Hop theme is to create something for a frame. There have been quite a number of You Tube videos of hand-made square frames made with card stock but I decided to go with a frame that I had tucked away from a summer visit to Ikea. It's a shadow box frame that measures 8 x 10 with a 5 x 7 center.

Continuing with my obsession with chickens and the fabulous Hey Chick stamp set, I created this:

The other stamp sets used were Butterfly Basics for the chicken wire, In the Meadow for the grass and flowers, Gift from the Garden for the flower pots and the Hardwood stamp for the bottom of the chicken coop.

The background paper is from the Serene Scenery paper stack. I used the Layering Squares Framelits to cut out the chicken coop windows from Always Artichoke card stock. I stamped the chickens onto Whisper White with Memento Black ink and used an aqua painter and ink pads for colouring. I then hand cut the chickens and slightly curled them to add dimension. After stamping the grass and flowers, I added a strip of Crumb Cake that I stamped with the Hardwood stamp to create the base of the chicken coop. After stamping the flower pots with Cajun Craze on Crumb Cake card stock, I added shading with the Cajun Craze marker. I also cut a strip of Pear Pizzazz card stock and cut the edge with a pair of fringe scissors.

And last but not least, I just had to add the little hatching eggs to the grassy area -- mamas watching over their little ones.

I have to admit to you that I was pretty thrilled with how it turned out and thoroughly enjoyed the process of creating it. I hope you enjoy looking at this and will give some thought to creating your own framed art.

Enjoy hopping though the other demonstrators posts. Happy stamping.
